MEDICAL FACTS ABOUT THE RECENT NATIONAL STUDY INDICATING AN INCREASED
RISK OF DEMENTIA IN WOMEN TAKING HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY:

According to a study published in the May 28 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, hormone replacement therapy using a combination of two synthetic “hormones” increased the risk of dementia, does not protect against mild cognitive impairment and increases the risk of stroke.*

The news comes from the latest data extracted from the Women's Health Initiative Memory Study and the larger Women's Health Initiative Study.  Another portion of the study was halted last year when the same combination of synthetic hormones was found to increase the risk of breast cancer and heart disease.

In direct contrast to the synthetic chemicals used in the WHI study, ProactiveHealth uses only natural hormones. These are exact molecular duplicates of the body’s own hormones, pure and certified by the U.S. Pharmacopoeia, and produced from yams and other plants. The ProactiveHealth system tests for levels of the four major hormones before prescribing any replacement therapy – and then restores the natural balance using only natural hormones.

There are no documented scientific studies that show that natural hormones, prescribed in ‘balance’ (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone & DHEA levels as found in healthy humans), implicated in increasing the risk for dementia, breast cancer or heart disease.

*The synthetic hormones used in the Women’s Health Initiative study noted above consisted of a conjugated equine estrogen usually made from the urine of pregnant horses combined with a chemical having progesterone-like activity - medroxyprogesterone. The same dosage level was used for everyone, irrespective of the patients’ age or weight.
